I’ve spent most of this week driving 1500 miles and moving into my new place in Baltimore, so this is just a quick update.
I’ve started reformatting my dissertation for final submission to IU, a seemingly interminable process of hoping to appease a Kafkaesque bureaucracy that simply won’t post its own rules online and would rather email you that you’ve somehow managed to break them. Again. =[
Here’s the upside:
There will be a single print run of my dissertation.
I was gonna buy one hardcover copy for myself, but if you’re interested in owning this technical document, here are the prices, bulk discounts and all. I have nothing to hide:
My goal in the dissertation is just to show that my individual good plus your individual good remains something less than our combined good until we start taking our relationship seriously.
And when we do, we’ll start to appreciate that our combined good cannot be cleanly parceled out into two separate accounts of your individual good and my individual good in the first place.
So much gets left out that in the end, 1 + 1 < 2.
Phew. And it only took 392 footnotes to get there!
My Venmo is @RickyMouser and I’m pretty broke this summer so I can’t just subsidize these for you BUT if you want one, here’s your chance:
Please don’t feel obligated! Just a heads up.
